Welcome to Shepherd’s Lodge which is nestled in the peaceful Vale of Belvoir. Spanning the borders of Lincolnshire, Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire, the Vale of Belvoir is an area of superb natural beauty with delightfully quaint villages, idyllic countryside, and sunsets that will take your breath away.
At Shepherd’s Lodge you can enjoy your escape any way you please. Simply relax and enjoy the peace and quiet of country life, breath in the fresh air, feed the ducks and enjoy a chilled glass of wine whilst you watch the kingfishers and other abundant wildlife from the comfort of your stunning Shepherd’s Hut. Or, soak up the atmosphere of the Vale of Belvoir and visit the wonderful local attractions such as Belvoir Castle (link) (https://www.belvoircastle.com), the Engine Yard (link) (https://www.engineyardbelvoir.com) and Hanwell Wine Estate (link) (https://www.hanwellwine.co.uk), take your horse for a hack, cycle the stunning countryside and dine in some of the area’s fabulous country pubs and restaurants.
Shepherd’s Lodge enjoys a breathtaking setting with the focal point being an exquisite, established lake that has been thoughtfully landscaped with fabulous trees and greenery. The lake has a pretty waterfall, lots of gorgeous water lilies, attractive water’s edge plants and an abundance of wildlife, as well as being home to our resident ducks.
There are beautiful views in all directions and with only three Shepherd Huts, each strategically placed, our guests can enjoy privacy as well as peace and quiet. Each of our huts has been handcrafted to our own design and offers absolute luxury with en-suite shower rooms, double beds, flat screen TV’s, wood burning stoves, underfloor heating and fully fitted kitchens. Outdoors you can take advantage of the stunning views or beautiful night skies whilst relaxing in your own private, wood-fired Hot Tub.
Each Shepherd Hut also allows guests to take full advantage of their lakeside location, the gorgeous views and clean countryside air, courtesy of quality outdoor furnishings and a BBQ for al-fresco dining. There is also a lovely, covered summer house, the Duck Inn, for guests to use, which has a dining table with benches, lots of comfortable seating, hammocks, swing chairs and, of course, a bar area with a fridge to keep your drinks cool - the perfect place to sit sipping your favourite wine whilst watching the sun set.
There are two stables on site, so our Shepherd Hut guests are welcome to bring a horse if they wish and bike storage is also available for our cyclist guests. Stables and bike storage should be booked in advance if required.
Our neighbours, Barkestone Vale Equestrian (Link) (https://www.facebook.com/Barkestone-Vale-Equestrian-1054870148635980), offer our Shepherd Hut guests ménage use, riding lessons and equine Reiki for an additional fee.
The Vale Retreat is also located close by and offers guests a 10% discount on Swedish Massages, Hot Stones and Reiki.
