Wonderland Retreats

Wonderland Retreats offer luxury pod accommodation in Carnforth located just five miles North of Lancaster and Morecambe, Carnforth’s location was just perfect for Oscar-winning director, Sir David Lean, when he chose the town’s railway station to film the most iconic scenes for his 1945 classic Brief Encounter, described as one of the greatest romantic films of all time.
75 years on, you can watch the film in Carnforth station heritage centre at Carnforth railway station - winner of the 2019 tourism award! The heritage centre offers exhibitions, regular events and a gift shop. You can even take your picture under the famous clock which featured so prominently.
Canforth is home to many independent shops but if outdoor pursuits are more your style, Warton Crag overlooks Carnforth and is ideal for hiking, climbing and abseiling. The neighbouring village of Warton, the ancestral home of George Washington, is well worth discovering too. Also nearby is the canal network which links Carnforth to many of the surrounding villages and beautiful countryside.
Don’t miss visiting Leighton Hall, the ancestral home of the famous furniture-making Gillow dynasty. Then don't forget to visit Greenlands Farm Village where there’s something for everyone from fun and farming to shopping and relaxing, which is less than a mile away from Carnforth. https://www.visitlancashire.com/explore
